Happy Memorial Day!!!

Happy Memorial Day!! Today is a day to remember those in our military who have served and those who are currently serving our country. It is also a day to remember the loved ones that we have lost. I miss all of my grandparents every day. I wish that they could be here now to see Levi. I know they would all just love him. I can just hear my Mamaw Elizabeth laughing right now at the silly things that he does....oh how I loved to make her laugh. I can see my Papaw Red taking Levi down fishing and swinging with him in the porch swing. I can see my Mamaw Deloris making him goodies....and see my Papaw Sam introducing him to John Wayne like he did me. I know they are all looking down on us and watching our lives unfold, but it would have been great if he had gotten the chance to get to know them as he was growing up. I also miss my really good friend, Jeremy, today. It still doesn't seem real that he isn't in this world anymore. I still feel as though I could call and talk to him at any second. Him passing has taught me that we need to enjoy each moment with those we love because we never know just how long we have or they have in this world. I hope that I remember each day to not sweat the small things (hard to do sometimes!) and focus on those I love and who love me.

Levi turned 15 months old 5/26/10! I can't believe we have one month until he is 1 1/2 years old. We'll be celebrating birthday #2 before we know it. :( It makes me sad to see him growing so fast, but there's nothing better than seeing him discover new things and enjoying every day. Here's hoping everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Day!

Levi has a boo boo. :(

We've had a bad weekend in the Haney household. Saturday night Levi came over to me to give me a Finding Nemo dvd to put in. He turned around to walk away, got tripped up, and fell on his right hand funny. I instantly heard a pop and he was screaming. After about an hour he calmed down and was moving it, however it seemed to hurt some when he touched his thumb to something. He went to bed at 11 without a fuss. He woke up at 1:30 am screaming like crazy and wouldn't let me touch his hand. So, we ended up at the ER. That in its self was a horrible experience. The Dr orders and Xray and when the Xray techs came in they were less than helpful. All the girl would do was say "Hi honey, put your hand up here". Umm...right. She didn't attempt to help me hold his arm to allow the other tech to take the xray. Instead she got the Dr to come in who first was very rude and went on and on about how "we have to get this xray. Step aside, let me do it". Then proceeded to basically sit on him....which I understand it had to be done. Turns out he had a buckle fracture of his metacarpal in his right thumb. They splinted it and gave us a referral to an orthopedist. It took 4 people to hold him and 1 person to get the splint put on. It was heartbreaking for me because he was crying so much and would look at me screaming "momma, momma, momma" and there wasn't anything I could do for him while they were working with him. I ended up standing in the corner crying while the Dr held him down for the Xray. It is heartbreaking to see your child going through so much pain. I have a child that is a dare devil. He has absolutely NO fear at all. Unfortunately for us, I think there will be many bumps and bruises over the years. I just hope there isn't many broken bones and major things happen.

Levi turns 14 months old

Today my little man is 14 months old. It seems like each new month is passing faster than the last. He is a very happy, very energetic, and very curious child. He is working on cutting his 4th tooth. It seems that he has developed early with motor skills but it took forever for those teeth to start coming in! They started in February 14th and have been popping out one after the other. I am anxious for him to get more so he can start more table foods. He is starting to say more day after day. So far he can say "mommy" and has recently started saying "hey baby" and "baby". He also says the standard baby babbles that all kids begin with. He loves to watch cartoons and movies. His favorites right now are Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Special Agent Oso, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and Shrek. It is fun for me to watch him watch these because he laughs a lot through the show. He loves the outdoors and he also loves being out watching people. He is definetly a social butterfly and loves having everyone notice and talk to him. Time is passing too quickly. Before I know it my baby will be 2....and the next thing you know he'll be in preschool...and on and on. Here's hoping that we all take the time to enjoy each and every moment with our loved ones. Let's leave the stress of work at the door....leave the need to have the house spotless....and have fun with our kids!!!
